EU Offshore Authorities Group
The European Union Offshore Oil and Gas Authorities Group (EUOAG) is a forum for the exchange of experiences and expertise both amongst national authorities and between national authorities and the Commission on all issues relating to major accident prevention and response in offshore oil and gas operations within the Union, as well as beyond its borders, where appropriate.
The Group was established in 2012 with Commission Decision C 18/07 of 2012 and it is formed by Member States’ authorities covering both safety and environmental protection aspects.
The Group is coordinated and chaired by DG ENERGY.
Its objectives include the prioritisation and supervision of the development of guidelines on best practices, sharing of best practices - both industry and regulatory - and rapid exchange of information on incidents. It facilitates exchange of information on the application of national and Union legislation and it promotes application of best practices and high safety standards in offshore oil and gas operations worldwide.
The Authorities Group aims to be the authoritative and trustworthy source of advice for the Commission on any matter relating to major hazards in offshore oil and gas operations.
